All our Havanese pups are AKC preregistered and our Havaton pups are AKCC registered. The pet registration can be transferred in your name for a small fee of $25.

Our Dogs are our Family !

Our dogs are our family, and they live with us in our home. Your puppy is raised in our home. When its time to give birth, momma has her own private room and we stay with them the entire time. Momma stays with the babies so they receive lots of extra nutrition, cuddles, and instruction, until they are "weaned" which is valuable for lifetime immunity!

About the Havanese Breed

What is the Average size and weight of the Havanese breed?

While the breed can range from 9.9 pounds to 16 pounds. Our puppies are on the smaller size at each averaging 10 pounds. Average height is 8.5-11.5 and our parents height is 10-10.5 inches high. Life expectancy is 14-16 years.

Is the Havanese Really Hypoallergenic?

Yes and no. While the Havanese is often labeled as hypoallergenic due to its minimal shedding, no breed is completely hypoallergenic. Their long, silky coat does help reduce allergens, but if you have allergies, it’s still possible to react. Always consult your doctor before bringing any pet into your home.

Do Havanese Dogs Shed?

They do, but much less than other breeds. Their soft, easy-to-care-for coat makes them a great choice for allergy sufferers, but regular grooming is still a must to keep shedding minimal.

Fragile Little Havanese-Think Again!

Don’t let their small size fool you. The Havanese is sturdy and loves to play, making them a resilient companion for active households.

Not for First-Time Pet Owners- Wrong!

The Havanese is actually a fantastic choice for new dog owners. They’re intelligent, eager to please, and adapt well to apartment living. With proper training, they make excellent first-time pets.

Hard to Train-Quite the Opposite!

The Havanese is a smart breed that responds well to training, especially with positive reinforcement. They’re quick learners and excel in obedience and tricks.

Independent-Not Exactly

Havanese dogs thrive on companionship and love being around their humans. They form strong bonds and prefer not to be left alone for long periods.

Low Exercise Needs-Not Quite

While they might not need as much exercise as larger breeds, regular walks and playtime are essential for a happy, healthy Havanese.

Is grooming a breeze? Think Again!

That beautiful coat needs daily care to stay tangle-free. Regular brushing and grooming are essential to keep your Havanese looking and feeling great.

Is Socialization Important for a Havanese?

Socializing your Havanese is crucial for raising a confident and well-adjusted dog. Regular interactions with other dogs, people, and new environments will help your Havanese grow into a friendly and outgoing companion.

History of  the Havaton: A Beautiful mix of a Havanese & a Coton De Tulear Breed

The Havaton is a recent hybrid breed of dog that has as yet to make its own unique history, but we can look to the parent dogs history to see the characteristics they have shaped over time.

The Havanese dogs history begins in Spain. When Christopher Columbus claimed Cuba in the year 1492, settlers from Spain were attracted to this new land and arrived at the island bringing their small companion dogs with them. These dogs were bred with the local island dogs which resulted in the development of the Havanese breed. The new breed had a silky thick coat to protect them from the hot blistering sun. These small dogs became very popular with the rich in Cuba in the early 1800s and went on to become just as popular with the jet set rich and famous in Europe. In the late 1800s they had lost their popularity and all but disappeared from the breeding circles and were even quite rare back home in Cuba. The breed was re-established after Cubans arrived in America after the 1959 revolution, bringing what remained of the Havanese breed with them. Careful breeding has now saved this affectionate and gentle dog, and he has gained a new place in peoples hearts as a great companion dog.

The Coton de Tulear can call the island of Madagascar home, located just off the Southeast coast of Africa. While it is unknown as to how it got to the island or where it came from prior to this time, it is commonly assumed  that it may have been a survivor of a ship wreck. While its lineage is unknown, they wandered the streets of Madagascar and became popular with royalty and the general population who took them in and made them companion dogs. It was in the 1970s, when a visiting Frenchman took a shine to this attractive small dog, and he took some back home with him. From here, they were bred selectively and became established as a genuine breed in their own right. They have now spread around the world and still exist in Madagascar. The Coton de Tulear is a sweet and happy dog with a playful nature and is devoted to its human family. The average weight of a Coton de Tulear is 8-15 pounds, height average is 9-11 inches and life expectancy is 15-19 years.
